Police want to help owner of canines

The Madera Police Department is seeking assistance in helping find homes for about 100 dogs that an owner is willing to give away.

Nicanor Santiago, who lives at 308 E. 4th St., has taken in stray dogs over the years and it has gotten out of control.

Now he is working with City Animal Control in an attempt to reduce the number of dogs at his home. The city is in the process of declaring the dogs a public nuisance for abatement purpose.

Santiago reported he is willing to give away the dogs rather than have them euthanized if they are not adoptable once taken to the animal shelter...
