Police seek suspects in weekend shootings

Madera police officers are on the lookout for gang members believed to have been behind a series of shootings last weekend that resulted in three non-fatal injuries.

At a few minutes past 9:15 p.m. Sunday, the shootings started when a white van drove up to a house on the 900 block of Bloker Street.

Detective Sgt. Robert Salas said a suspect described as a “Hispanic male between 5-foot-5 and 5-foot-7 inches tall, thin build, and around 17 years old” got out of the car and walked up to the house.

Salas said the suspect — believed to be a member of the Norteños street gang — had gotten into a confrontation at a liquor store with a person who lived at the house...
