Police seek clues in fatal shooting

Teen victim reportedly died shielding his brother

Two days before Christmas Day, a 15-year-old Madera boy was shot dead and police have asked for the public’s help in finding his suspected killer.

At just before 9:30 p.m. Monday, gunshots were reported on the 1600 block of Lacreta Avenue near Madison Drive, approximately a half mile from John J. Pershing Elementary School.

When police arrived, Sgt. Randall Williams said, they found the victim lying in the doorway of a nearby home with at least one gunshot wound to his torso.

“He was unresponsive to CPR conducted by officers and paramedics,” Williams said. “He was transported to the Madera Community Hospital where he was subsequently pronounced dead.” ...
