Madera police and other state and federal law enforcement officers made arrests late Thursday morning of suspects in a purported prostitution ring at 1000 Tulare St. in Madera, according to a news release from the Madera Police Department.
What police called “an international human trafficking and prostitution ring” had been under surveillance for some time by investigators, who had gained enough information and evidence to lead to an arrest warrant.
“The investigation led us to believe that individuals were brought in from El Salvador for the purpose of prostitution,” the police news release said. “Their operation moves women from one house to another throughout California once a week, so as not to bring attention themselves.”
More arrests in other jurisdictions were expected.
