Police raid chop shop

Madera police raided a house in the 300 block of Kennedy Court, near A Street, in north Madera Tuesday afternoon, and found a dismantled late-model Honda Accord and a chop shop operation in the garage.

As officers spoke with residents in the front yard, police were told there was possibly a man with a gun hiding somewhere inside the house.

A search of the house found a wanted parolee, Florentino Alvarez, hiding inside and under the bottom of a platform bed.

Officers said Alvarez would have likely had to have help in placing the bed platform and mattress over the top of himself, and suspected someone in the chop shop operation of attempting to hide the wanted felon...
