Police: Man fires rifle in neighborhood

A 28-year-old Madera man was arrested for allegedly firing six shots from a hunting rifle and for possessing another loaded and concealed firearm, Madera police said.

Sgt. Gino Chiaramonte said officers responded to calls of shots fired in the 800 block of Washington Street.

“They found Armando Garcia with a rifle, in the front yard of a home. He was told to drop the rifle and he did. He then pulled out another weapon, a loaded chrome pistol out of his back waistband, and surrendered that,” Chiaramonte said.

Garcia was arrested on charges of possessing a loaded firearm and being in possession of stolen property. Other charges may be pending, police said. He was booked into Madera County Jail and released a few hours later after posting bond...
