Police: Man charged with public intoxication wanted on warrants

A 37-year-old Madera man police arrested on charges of public intoxication was wanted on charges of hit and run, driving without a license or insurance, and driving under the influence of alcohol, among other charges, according to authorities.

Residents at a New Year’s Eve party found Antonio Guerra lying face down along a fence in their side yard and called police shortly after midnight.

Guerra was heavily intoxicated, according to officers, and was arrested and taken to jail to prevent him from getting hit by a car.

Guerra gave officers several variations of his name and birth date and was briefly combative as he was taken into custody...
