A known gang member has been arrested on charges of resisting arrest, fleeing from police and felony possession of a stolen, loaded firearm among other charges, Madera police said.
In response to six gang-related shooting incidents in the past month, police have doubled or tripled the number of officers on patrol at any one time, and have announced zero tolerance for any displays of gang affiliation or gang activity.
Madera Police Sgt. Gino Chiaramonte said officers responded to a call early Sunday of shots fired from a car matching the one Fernando Vasquez was found in.
“We were already looking for a tan Toyota Camry with six occupants with black hooded sweatshirts after shots were fired earlier near Avenue 13,” Chairamonte said...
