Wearing his beret, Tim Z. Hernandez arrived just in time to give a poetry workshop in Madera’s downtown library this week.
Born in Dinuba, the award-winning author and performance artist endured a snowstorm and a delayed flight out of Colorado to engage people interested in “word play.” Thanks to multiple art grants, he will return.
Addressing a small group at the Madera downtown library Tuesday, Hernandez talked about his work, notably teaching children to write. He pointed to how the flame of imagination diminish as they adapt their minds to meet educational standards.
