A newly designed play area at the Madera County Department of Social Services was dedicated Monday morning in memory of the late Paige (Turner) Garcia, a former employee of the department. Director Kelly Woodard opened the ceremony by welcoming everyone and introducing Garcia’s family.
Woodard spoke of Garcia’s dedication to children and her advocacy for the play area. “Paige was a true Madera community person,” she said.
Woodard spoke of the many years of service to the children of Madera, not only at Social Services, but also previously at First 5 and the Camarena Health Center. She invited the family to say a few words and several thanked the department for honoring Garcia in this fashion.
Garcia’s father Carl Turner said he was blessed to have Paige as a daughter for 47 years. “She not only cared about her family, but her love extended out to the community,” he said...
