Group to help support Lumber Town project
With the opening of the Madera District Fair on Sept. 6, the first thing fairgoers will see as they walk through the main gate will be “Lumber Town,” a newly constructed replica of the industry that gave birth to Madera as well as its name.
Visitors will also get a chance to get in on the ground floor of an organization that has grown out of the new fair exhibit.
Using “Lumber Town” as a springboard, several community leaders have formed the Madera District Fair Heritage Foundation to promote the past, present, and the future. Their idea is to support the fair through the rich heritage of Madera County, according to Patty Manfredi, foundation president and member of the Madera District Fair Board.
“Lumber Town” is the first historical project of the Heritage Foundation. According to Manfredi, “It displays a rendition of the Madera Sugar Pine Lumber operation. This facility is the beginning of telling the story about the history of Madera County,” Manfredi said...
