Nearly five years after 18-year-old Krista-Rae Pike was murdered in Madera, the two accused of killing her will be tried separately in Stanislaus County, with the first trial expected to begin in September.
Both trials are expected to take several weeks, the prosecutor and defense attorneys agreed Friday at a court hearing.
Brittany Navarra, who was 16 at the time of the murder, is accused of ordering her boyfriend, Dustin Robert Gran III, then 19, to kill Pike. Pike’s body was found in the home of her fiancé, who was also Navarra’s ex-boyfriend.
Gran, now 23, and Navarra, 20, are charged with first-degree murder...

Prosecutional Misconduct , corruption, and the press.
Mr. Dodd, As I read the latest on the Navara/Gran trial in Merced, I appriciate the report that the Madera Tribune did on the subject of the DA and the prosecutional misconduct. The madera tribune cites the constitution,"of the people, by the people and for the people." This civil liberty , Freedom of the press, is at times our only protection when our public officials violate our civil rights. The bill of rights are a list of rules that prohibits our government from acts of tyranny and are meant to prevent corruption by the powers that be. As a society are constitution is only as strong as it applied to even unsavory people, it must be applied to everyone at all times, this is the back bone to our civilization and what makes this nation great. My hat is off to you Mr. Dodd for making an honest report, Im sure that that it comes with consequences that dont sit well with your peers as a productive member of this community, especially hard on your t time with Ernie. I would like to see more accountability with the DA's office, M.S.O., Madera PD, the City Counsel, The County Board of Supervisor's, the Public Defenders, and even the D.O.J., I almost gave up hope in this paper, and Im concerned withthese groups and people of this county who have been killed. Homelees People and strangers are citizens too, and Law enforcement officials are not perfect, they need to be held accountable to follow the law they enforce. Ive heard statements like welcome to the State of Madera, Madera is a County in the State of California which is an insepable part of the union of the United States of America, where the constitution is the highest law in the land. That law applies to everyone, not just the Masons.
