For many people, opening their own business is the epitome of living the American dream — and for Nigerian-born Vincent Ntukogu, it really is.

“It’s the land of opportunity,” he said. “This is what it’s all about, starting my own business, running it and creating jobs with it. I’m living the dream. It takes hard work, but it’s a lot of joy to run your own business.”

Ntukogu opened New Life Pharmacy on Nov. 18 and held its official grand opening Feb. 11 at 483 E. Almond Ave., Ste. 102.

“Business is picking up gradually,” Ntukogu said. “The location is great because it’s in the mix of all these doctors’ offices and down the street from the hospital. People know where we are and tell other people. The word of mouth is great. The fact that we’re in The Madera Tribune helps, too.” ...
