School lunches were served in sample sizes and their taste was put to the test in a health and food show.

More than 500 people visited 26 tables in the cafeteria of Madera High School where vendors gave out samples and resource agencies provided information about healthy food choices, activities and free or low-cost medical insurance programs.

The health and food show is put on by Madera Unified School District every two years to showcase and vote for foods to add to school lunch menus, said Sandra Perez, child nutrition director.
