Parents to pay for kids’ vandalism inside home

The parents of 14 and 16- year-old boys who vandalized a vacant house in Madera will have to pay $25,000 in damages to the owner, Madera County District Attorney Michael Keitz said Thursday.

The boys will also be on probation until they are 21.

Each of the juveniles was charged with a count of felony vandalism after they were arrested by Madera police and booked into Juvenile Hall on Jan. 23.

That day, the two boys and a third juvenile kicked in the garage door of a newly constructed house and splattered paint from cans stored in the garage throughout the home while smoking marijuana, Keitz said.
