Principal named for Millview Elementary

For the second time this month, parents and teachers from Millview School carried their discontent over the hiring of a new principal to a school board meeting. Their efforts, however, failed to change anything.

Stephanie McPherson will be Millview’s new principal after a unanimous vote by the Board of Trustees. She replaces Rachel Church, who retired.

Twenty five parents and teachers from Millview attended the regular meeting of Madera Unified trustees Tuesday night to show their displeasure with the process by which the district chose McPherson, and some expressed concern that she did not speak Spanish.

During the public comment portion of the meeting, one parent suggested that the new principal was “incompetent” due to her allegedly being monolingual. A similar criticism was voiced at the board’s June 12 meeting...
