After the contents of Tuesday's newspaper had been set, the Madera County Alert system released the following notice from the Resource Management Agency's Department of Engineering, special districts division:

"Due to a system failure in the Parkwood water system, the California Water Resources Contril [sic] Board in conjunction with the Madera County Health Department, and Madera County Special Districts Water System are advising resident of MD-19, Parkwood, to use boiled tap water or bottled water for drinking and cooking purposes. This is being done as a safety precaution since we cannot insure the safety of your water for drinking. Please ration water inside to sanitary uses only, such as flushing toilets and bathing. Do no drink water without boiling it first. Madera County Special Districts at (559) 675-7820. Thank you for your patience while we resolve this situation."
