An Oakhurst teenage has been arrested on suspicion of possessing potent prescription medication, marijuana and drug paraphernalia, authorities said Friday.

Sheriff Deputy Richard Gonzales took Dominic Nathan Vanderhorst, 18, into custody without incident Thursday night. Vanderhorst posted his $10,000 bond about an hour after his booking.

Shortly before 7 p.m., the Sheriff’s Office received reports of several juveniles loitering in a shopping center parking lot off of State Route 49. Gonzales encountered five minors with loud music coming from one of their three vehicles. When he approached a Chevy Tahoe in which Vanderhorst sat, the deputy reportedly could smell the strong odor of marijuana.

When asked if he had anything illegal, the teen allegedly admitted to marijuana, for which he does not possess a medical card. He consented to a search of the SUV, and Gonzales claims he found a Marlboro cigarette box containing Hydrocodone and Diazepam pills. Vanderhorst reportedly said they belong to someone else and he had forgotten about them...
