A large gathering of members and prospective members of the Madera Kiwanis Club met Thursday afternoon for a membership drive luncheon with Monte Pistoresi as membership drive chairman.

Each member who invited a guest introduced them to the assembly, and those guests were invited to join the club.

The program for the day found the club making a presentation of its annual Law Enforcement Officers of the Year Awards.

Chaired by former Madera Police Chief Jerry Noblett, the group selected Madera Police Officer Dan Godwin, Under Sheriff Tom Turk and California Highway Patrol Officer Pete Coronado.

In addition to the plaques the first three Pete Minneti Memorial Scholarships to the Front Sight Firearms Training Institute in Pahrump, Nevada from Pete's Sport Shop in the amount of $1,200 each were awarded.

Also in attendance with the more than 80 people at the luncheon were members of the River Park Kiwanis Club in Fresno including President Tom Burke and members Kathy Morrison, David Morrison, Debra Morrison, Annette Fernandez, Lou Karagozian, Karen Dull, Kiwanis Past District Govenor Howard Dull and Kiwanis District Lt. Governor Jim Cook.

Howard Dull spoke on the principles of Kiwanis.
