Art sale to benefit church

Thursday, March 11, 2010

By Tami Jo Nix

A variety of media, oils, watercolors, photography, pastels and sculpture -- some by locals -- will be featured at an art sale to benefit a Fresno church from noon to 4 p.m. March 20.

Cal Crane of Madera is selling a selection of artwork from his private collection. He plans to donate half of the money from the sale to his multi-ethnic Christian church, the United Community Fellowship at 752 N. Abby St. in Fresno.

Crane is a three-term past president and nine-term board member of the Madera County Arts Council, a retired licensed respiratory care practitioner and past supervisor of the sleep lab at Kaiser Medical Center in Fresno

'Mother Love'

One of the pieces is an oil painting of a mother and child by Gail Penning.
