Aid available for locals in need

During a time when economic and social troubles are rampant, Madera is home to numerous organizations that attempt to ease the hardships of the community and offer spiritual, financial, and educational aid.

Tim McGraw, new head of the Madera Ministerial Association, works closely with national and local programs to ensure that those in need receive the assistance they require. Among those programs, are four local organizations that offer services to individuals and families throughout Madera:

Doors of Hope: This is a nonprofit organization that reaches out to women, men, and children of the Madera community who are dealing with unplanned pregnancies, abortion-related concerns and child care concerns.

The services provided at the center are free, bilingual and focused on spiritual and emotional support during what can often be an overwhelming time, said Jennifer Kapur, director of client counseling service and post-abortion recovery programs. Such programs include confidential pregnancy tests, peer counseling and physician referrals...
