Madera County libraries close for the holidays

Friday, December 18, 2009

By Tami Jo Nix

The budget crunch has hit the Madera County Library, which will look to save revenues by closing branches during the holidays.

Madera County librarian Linda Sitterding said the library will be closed Sunday through Dec. 26 and on Jan. 1 and 2.

"Return book drops will be locked," Sitterding said, "but no overdue fines will be charged for holiday closed days."

The main branch of the library is at 121 N. G St. There are branches in Chowchilla (300 Kings Ave.), Madera Ranchos (37167 Ave. 12, No. 4C), North Fork (32908 Road 222) and Oakhurst (49044 Civic Circle Drive).
