Students briefly revive old Egypt

Saturday, December 05, 2009

By Ramona Frances

Students embodied historic and mythological figures from Egypt's ancient past this week as Lincoln Elementary School presented its 13th annual Living Wax Museum.

Guided by teacher Filipe Magos, sixth-graders studied important figures from ancient Egypt, wrote monologues and created period costumes for performances given Thursday and Friday for parents, school staff and other students.

The performances, presented in the school library, culminated five weeks of lessons on Egyptian history and mythology.

Maro Blanco, 11, said performing in front of an audience was scary.
