We all depend on ag, says local farmer
Organic farmer Tom Willey of Madera offered the keynote address at a screening of the motion picture "Fresh" at Fresno City College.
The movie features farmers, scientists, and business leaders across America who are using or advocating sustainable methods of farming, rather than the conventional and more common practices that are commonly used.
"We're trying to create awareness that you can sustain a crop using no chemicals, and out-perform conventional farms across the board: financially, nutritionally, and taste-wise," said Sean Henderson, co-chair for the Speakers Forum of Fresno City College, who along with the Fresno Center for Non-Violence, sponsored the Thursday event.
Using scientific data, illustrations, and his own experiences, Willey, of T & D Willey Farms, explained why he became an organic farmer.
