Madera High School's FIRST robotics team won six matches and lost two during its off-season competition on Saturday.
"We ranked number one," said student team captain Ranjit Chahal. The competing teams included Thunderbots of Los Angeles, Buchanan Robotics of Clovis, Clovis North Robotics, Gearheads of Saratoga, Padres of San Mateo and Madtown Robotics of Madera.
Ranjit Chahal said the team is looking forward to what it calls "build season," which begins Jan. 9.
"This is when we find out what we are going to build. The information is released by NASA," Chahal said. "Right now, we are pretty much helping to train new members and getting information out to the community about it."
