Teaching scholarships offered

The Madera Division of the California Retired Teachers is once again accepting applications for scholarships from local high school seniors interested in becoming teachers.
Knowing they can make a dramatic impact on the life of a child is what drives many to become teachers. By offering scholarships, the organization hopes to help others work toward a degree in education.
Last year the division awarded six $500 scholarships to students who graduated from a high school in Madera County and who want to teach.
"Madera's retired teachers continue to support and encourage education with these scholarship," said member Martha Conley.
