The Madera Unified School District's Department of Special Services defined on Friday the types of programs it offers for students whose needs cannot be met in the general education classroom.
Special education services and programs are available in Madera and Mariposa counties for children from birth to 22 years old with a wide spectrum of disabilities.
"We want to be sure that every child who has a disability receives the help they need," said Jennifer Gaviola, MUSD's director of Special Services.
Services are available for children with sight, speech, hearing, orthopedic or other health impairments, learning disabilities or behavioral disorders as well as for those who are developmentally delayed or autistic.
