Teens accused of Bass Lake burglaries

Friday, July 10, 2009

By The Madera Tribune

A 17-year-old is being sought for questioning about a rash of burglaries in Bass Lake after the arrest of another 17-year-old believed by authorities to be his accomplice.

Nearly $5,000 worth of property was reported stolen in the burglaries, which began in June. Madera County sheriff's deputies found some of the property in a home in Bass Lake.

According to reports, deputy Luis Padgett received word Monday that the two boys were hiding out in the Bass Lake area. One is an Oakhurst resident wanted on a probation violation in Madera County. The other is a teen wanted in Tulare County.

After deputies Padgett and Bennie Romiti found some of the stolen property at a home on Ledge Street, the homeowner told deputies that she knew nothing about the stolen property, but that the wanted boys stayed at her home.
