Two men were arrested Sunday on drug charges after officers from the California Highway Patrol say they saw the pair preparing to inhale a white substance on Gateway Drive and Ninth Street.
Carlos Perez, 19, of Madera was charged with possession of cocaine, possession of a controlled substance for sale, and being under the influence. Humberto Soloris Muniz, 39, of Fresno was charged with being under the influence of a controlled substance.
CHP officer J. Jimenez said while driving by on Gateway Drive he and his partner T. Barnes, saw two men on the street corner in front of Dominic's bar, involved in what appeared to be a drug transaction and drug use.
"We were looking for impaired drivers," Jimenez said. "I looked to the left and observed two Hispanic males that appeared to be conducting a drug transaction. One of the males was holding a little baggie with a white substance for the other one. As soon as we put the spotlight on him and approached him, he dropped it."
