Police have arrested Thomas Gammell, 34, of Madera, Angel Chavez, 28, of Madera, and Olaf Karlsen, 37, of Ventura County on charges of possessing stolen property, violation of parole, and for resisting arrest, among other charges.
The three were charged with stealing a 2001 Cadillac GTS from employees at an auto dealership on East 6th Street. The Cadillac was recovered later that day after being spotted by police community resource officers in an alleyway in the area of an apartment complex on North A Street.
Tips from the public led police to the white Toyota Camry the men were seen driving away from the dealership. They found the car on Cronin Street in the area of Parkwood. Two of the suspects were taken into custody at that location by Madera police and sheriff's deputies after a foot pursuit. The third, who hid in a yard, was found by officers from the gang task force later that night.
The 2009 Toyota Camry in possession of the men and driven in the theft was also found to be stolen, according to authorities.
