Badger Pass expected to open trails

Friday, January 12, 2007

Chuck Carter, manager of ski and snow board school at Badger Pass ski resort, said he is hoping the storm expected this weekend will bring a lot of snow. Unlike Sierra Summit, Badger Pass Ski has not officially opened, but will open cross country skiing this weekend.

Badger Pass area is inside Yosemite National Park, six miles east of state Route 41 on Glacier Point Road.

"The slopes look good. We have groomed some of the runs but the snow is not quite deep enough. We'll be opening cross county skiing this weekend and are scheduled to open downhill skiing Dec. 21," Carter said.

For updated information see www.yosemiterentals.com/badger.htm or call 209-372-1000.

Further south, Sierra Summit has opened chair four and six, and has machine groomed packed powder on the slopes. Roads are open but chains are required.

Discounts are offered every Sunday for middle school and high school students. Students must show current photo identification for a $20 lift ticket.

Lift tickets for adults are $35, $25 for youth ages 13 through 17 and $10 for children ages 6 through 12.

For snow information call 559-233-3330 or online, www.sierrasummit.com.
