Whiskerinos kickoff Old Timer's festivities

The Madera County Historical Society is out to get the clean-shaven and the modern dressed off the streets of Madera during Old Timer's Week. Women wearing modern clothing and clean-shaven men beware!
The historical society's "Whiskerino Posse" is out, 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., today and tomorrow. The posse will arrest and haul off to the hoosegow those in violation.
"Stay Out of Jail" tags are on sale for $5 and available at the City of Madera, Madera County Museum, Madera District Chamber of Commerce or the Board of Supervisors' Office. It is all in fun and part of the Old Timer's Day festivities taking place this week.
On Thursday night from 5 to 9 p.m. the law firm of John Barker & Associates along with the two chambers of commerce will host a mixer in Courthouse Park. Musical entertainment will be performed by Special Reserve.
The Old Timer's Day Parade begins at 10 a.m. on Saturday, with the parade route from Flume to G Street.
Following the parade, judging for the longest, shortest and most unique beards plus a prize for mustache only will take place in Courthouse Park.
Those interested in having a co-worker, employer or fellow lodge member arrested by the posse can call Bob Winslow at 675-7715 or the museum at 673-0291.
