School bus accident update
Saturday, September 24, 2005
It took five hours to remove the remains of David Tesone, 26, from his car after he crashed into a Chowchilla School bus Thursday.
There were nine children on the bus at the time of crash. Only one girl suffered a minor injury to her leg. She was treated and released at the scene.
According to a report by the California Highway Patrol, Tesone, from Le Grand, failed to stop at the stop sign and Road 22 and Avenue 24. His car entered the intersection directly in the path of the school bus that was traveling about 50 mph on Avenue 24. Both vehicles hit a parked SBC service van and then the bus ran over the Impala. The car rolled under the entire length of the bus and ended up on its roof at the rear of the bus, driven by Jodi Hutchings of Chowchilla.
A fire erupted at the back of the bus and spread to the interior of the Impala.
Tesone, who was trapped inside the vehicle, sustained fatal injuries to his head and body, and fire burned his lower torso.
