New ag commissioner proud to serve county

When longtime Madera County Ag Commissioner Robert Rolan departed last year, Stevie McNeill knew she was the right person for the job.

The job itself — which ranges from protecting the public’s health and safety; sealing of weights and measures; and enforcing code violations — is not easy by any means but if someone has do it, McNeill gladly accepts the new challenge.

“I love the job and I feel I’m doing a good service for the community of Madera,” she said. “To me, it’s all about food safety and helping make sure that things are fair and equitable in the marketplace. We have all these different parts of the puzzle that go together so I can assure food safety in Madera County the best that I can. That’s very important to me.”

McNeill’s position entails a wide range of duties that calls upon her to be the eyes and ears for the agriculture affairs in all of Madera County with the job’s motto being “To promote and protect.” ...
