Department store, pizza shop moving in The Commons

Two additions to The Commons shopping center at the Madera District Fairgrounds are expected in 2012.

A Marshalls department store and Mountain Mike's Pizza are the new businesses being built by the Newman Development Group of San Francisco.

"They'll make another good addition, and will add to the synergy of that center that continues to grow and moves towards full build out," said Bobby Kahn, executive director of the Madera County Economic Development Commission.

Marshalls is a 24,000-square-foot store that offers discount clothes, furniture and housewares...

It's great to hear we are getting Mountain Mike Pizza and Marshalls. Any updates on the Fresh & Easy grocery store, looking forward to that also

It looks like Fresh n Easy has put its plans on hold for now, although their interest in Madera apparently still remains. We probably will hear more of them when the economy improves.
