A Chowchilla woman wanted for prison escape in Nebraska is back behind bars after being captured in north Madera on Monday night.
Connie Torres, also known as Connie Marquez, 23, was arrested shortly before 10 p.m. Monday following a traffic stop near Sonora and Adell Streets where she was found to be in possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, Madera County Sheriff’s spokeswoman Erica Stuart said.
Torres was booked into Madera County Department of Corrections on felony drug charges. She now awaits extradition to Nebraska, Stuart said.
According to Nebraska authorities, Torres,who was sentenced in July 2012, was serving a 2- to 4-year prison term for narcotics and child abuse when she escaped, Stuart said.
