The man sentenced to life in prison without parole for viciously killing Madera teen Krista-Rae Pike briefly faced his former girlfriend and alleged puppeteer as her trial resumed Wednesday.

Dustin Gran, 26, was convicted earlier this year for Pike’s gruesome murder on Jan. 14, 2008, when her body was found beaten, slashed, and partially stripped on the floor of a Madera home.

Prosecutors allege Brittany Navarra, 23, orchestrated the crime out of jealousy over Pike’s fiance Thomas Hollier, who dumped Navarra when her supposed romantic rival returned to town in late 2007.

Navarra faces charges of murder, conspiracy, and burglary for her alleged involvement in the crime...
