Museum gala draws nearly 300 to its holiday decor

An annual Christmas Gala to raise money for the Madera County Courthouse Museum drew nearly 300 people to its doors. Organized by the Madera County Historical Society, the Sunday event has been held for more than 20 years and raised about $10,000 last year, according to president Sheryl Berry.

“Hopefully we’ll raise close to that this year,” she said.

The annual event also serves as opening day to show off the newly decorated Madera County Courthouse Museum, which is adorned in a traditional Christmas theme this year.

“It’s been good. We’ve had a really good response. A lot of people are here for the first time, so that’s been good,” said Berry, who anticipated that the theme for next year’s Christmas Gala would be about children...
