Madera Unified School District got good news Thursday on release of state and federal report cards by the California Department of Education from results of its annual testing program for 2012.
Although the results showed Madera schools overall had improved, Superintendent Gustavo Balderas maintained a stance of guarded optimism.
On the state report card, which came in the form of an Academic Performance Index (API), 14 Madera schools improved their scores from last year.
