MUSD set to bid on Mervyn’s building

The former Mervyn’s store at 1467 Country Club Drive may soon house Madera Unified School District’s offices, according to Superintendent Ed Gonzalez.

The school board met Monday morning in closed session to discuss the possible purchase and, according to Gonzalez, Assistant Superintendent Sandon Schwartz will give a report on the status of the building at tonight’s regular meeting of the trustees.

Officials from Madera Unified’s maintenance department made a walk-through of the building Friday and had planned to take another one Monday ahead of the board meeting.

Thomas Dobrowski of Rockwood Real Estate Advisors told the Tribune on Monday that the bidding would begin Monday at $300,000 and was scheduled to continue through Wednesday...
