Madera police arrested a suspect on charges of murder this week after a fight between the suspect and two brothers left one of the brothers dead and the other severely beaten.

Eleuterio Flores Avila, 38, was booked into Madera County Jail late Tuesday night after authorities believe he approached the brothers near a home on the 900 block of Nebraska Street then fought them. During the fight, police said, Avila “severely” beat one brother with a .38-caliber handgun, and shot the other.

The 22-year-old victim was taken to Community Regional Medical Hospital and died from his wounds. Authorities did not release his name Wednesday.

His brother — who was also not named — is expected to recover from his injuries...
