Mountain man is top deputy

Law enforcement peers voted Jack Williamson as Deputy of the Year, Madera County Sheriff John Anderson announced Friday.

Williamson, a 16-year veteran with the sheriff’s office, serves the people of Eastern Madera County, where he has investigated burglaries, forgeries, thefts, and also assists the Madera County Narcotics Enforcement Team (MADNET) during eradication missions.

When assigned to the Mountain Detective Unit nine years ago, he handled most, if not all of the division’s sexual assault cases, identity theft and child abuse cases, according to sheriff’s spokeswoman Erica Stuart.
