The 20-year-old driver of a van said he just didn’t see the motorcycle as he pulled out of the shopping center onto west Sherwood Way, near Country Club Drive.
Madera police officers said the man on the Honda motorcycle was traveling east on Sherwood and had the right of way when the van pulled out into traffic and struck him while moving about 20 to 25 mph.
The motorcyclist, who was in his mid-60s, lost control of the Honda, flew over the front handlebars, according to witnesses, and tumbled end over end. He landed crumpled on the street about 30 feet east of his motorcycle.
“I thought he was dead for sure, then he started to move his one arm a little. Cars were (driving past) just missing him,” said a witness to the incident...
