FAIRMEAD — Another fog-related crash took the lives of a Madera County mother and her 4-year-old son Friday morning in a crossover collision on State Route 152 at Road 17 1/2, just west of the SR 99 interchange.

Her other 8-year-old son survived with moderate injuries and was taken to a local hospital. Names are being withheld pending notification of family members.

California Highway Patrol officer Sgt. Michael Donnelly said the collision happened about 8:45 am.

“A 2000 Saturn sedan was northbound on Road 17 1/2 at an unknown speed, and was approaching the intersection with Highway 152. She either failed to stop at the stop sign or stopped and thought she cleared the traffic. She proceeded north across 152, and was struck broadside by a eastbound 1997 Toyota sedan,” Donnelly said...
