Annual dinner raises money for scholarships, local projects

Heaps of leg, claw, shell and other leftovers grew as 400 people feasted at the 7th annual crab feed organized by the Chicano Correctional Workers Association.

Trash heaps weren’t the only things collecting as attendees enjoyed hanging beads around their necks to celebrate the Mardi Gras theme on Saturday.

Music played and silent auctions were conducted during dinner at the Chowchilla Fairgrounds. Raffles, a 50/50 dr awing and a dance followed.

The CCWA organizes the crab feed to raise money for high school scholarships, community dinners, donations to high school sports, shoe donations to children and other service projects in Madera, Chowchilla and Firebaugh...
