Modesto man killed in crash

RAYMOND — A 55-year-old Modesto man was killed in a solo vehicle crash on Road 800, after the 17-year-old driver lost control and hit a tree, according to the California Highway Patrol.

The Monday afternoon crash happened about 4:30 and is believed to be DUI related. Authorities are not releasing the name of the juvenile.

CHP Sgt. John Johnson said the fatality, Ronald Gene McAnally of Modesto was the front passenger in a 1995 Honda Accord, and apparently McAnally intentionally reached over and pulled the emergency brake while the car was moving.

“The driver, a 17 year old juvenile, also appeared to be intoxicated. There was a half empty bottle of whiskey still in the car. He was arrested on suspicion of DUI and may face charges of vehicular manslaughter,” Johnson said...
