Model employee: Madera man celebrates 25 years in local work program

At an age when many employees are preparing for retirement, Perry Davis, now 81, enrolled in a program to find a job.

Since becoming a client of Madera’s Community Integrated Work Program when it opened 25 years ago, Davis has done janitorial services for several local businesses and was Walmart’s bicycle assemblyman for 15 years.

“He decided to retire from that a few years ago and work on more low-key jobs here,” said Sherri Arrington, director of CIWP, which serves the developmentally disabled.

Clients with emotional, behavioral, developmental or physical disabilities are referred to the program by Central Valley Regional Center...
