Children gathered around a Madera business owner on Friday, twirling in new, colorful hula hoops, figuring out how to play with pickle balls and looking at new shoes. The items Millview Elementary students tried out were only part of larger donation made by Rochelle Noblett, owner of Pete’s Sport Shop.
She delivered more than $1,000 worth of playground and sports equipment and athletic apparel to the school’s cafeteria, where she was met by students and staff. Principal Rosalinda Galvez and her students admired the new stuff and thanked Noblett.
“We’re very grateful to Mrs. Noblett and the team at Pete’s Sport Shop for this generous donation. This equipment will go to students with the greatest financial need,” said Galvez.
Other items in the early Christmas gift, as Galvez calls it, included playground games, flag football belts, wrestling and volleyball shoes, team water bottles and a large bucket of softballs...
