The water season starts Tuesday and growers can expect deliveries for thirsty crops to arrive early in June, the Madera Irrigation District has announced.

The district estimated the deliveries will occur for nine weeks and will be extended “as long as possible.”

A grower’s first water order of the year must be placed directly through the district’s Operation Department, 673-9241. All requests should be made at least three days in advance of the first desired water delivery. This year’s water rate is $110 per acre foot.
