The Secretary of the Interior announced $50 million in federal funding for water projects Wednesday, including $1.5 million for the Madera Ranch Water Bank.
The bank is a water supply enhancement project of the Madera Irrigation District to meet the future water needs of its growers and the surrounding region.
When completed, the project will have a capacity equal to half of Millerton Lake, according to MID. The funding is part of a $22.5 million project funding authorized by Congress.
